1. Who we are
MaxMerit Exchange Inc. (MaxMerit, we, us) operates maxmeritexchange.com and the exchange services offered on it and through our partners. We are a money services business registered with FINTRAC and we are responsible for the personal information under our control.
2. What we collect
Contact details you give us (name, email address, phone number, company), the details of the quote or exchange you request (currencies, amounts, payout destination), identity information required by law for verification above certain thresholds, and technical information such as IP address, device type and the pages you visit.
When you use the exchange widget we also record the transaction itself: amounts, rate, fees, status, the wallet address or bank reference you provide and the time of each step.
3. Why we use it
To quote and complete your exchange, to meet our legal obligations (identity verification, record keeping, reporting under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act), to prevent fraud, to answer your requests and to improve the service. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for third party advertising.
4. Who we share it with
Service providers who help us run the service (payment processors, liquidity and settlement partners, identity verification providers, hosting), regulators and law enforcement when the law requires it, and the partner through whose site you started an exchange, limited to the status of that exchange. Each provider is bound to use the information only to provide the service.
5. Retention and security
Records of exchanges and identity verification are kept for at least five years after the transaction, as required by Canadian law. Other information is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. Information is stored on access controlled systems, encrypted in transit, and API credentials are stored hashed.
6. Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent where the law allows. Write to info@maxmeritexchange.com or visit our office. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
