1. The service
MaxMerit Exchange Inc. provides foreign currency exchange, international money transfers and the purchase, sale and exchange of digital assets for Canadian dollars and other supported currencies. Some exchanges are completed on our own rails; others may be settled through a regulated liquidity partner. Either way, your contract is with MaxMerit and we remain responsible for your exchange.
2. Eligibility and verification
You must be at least 18 years old, act on your own behalf and not be resident in a jurisdiction we do not serve. We may ask for identity documents and proof of source of funds before completing an exchange and may decline, delay or reverse an exchange when we are required to, or when we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse.
3. Quotes, rates and fees
Rates shown on the site are indicative. A quote becomes binding only when we confirm it, and a confirmed quote is valid for the period shown (two minutes in the widget). The service fee, any payment method fee and any network fee are shown before you commit. Once a digital asset has been sent to the address you provided the exchange is complete and cannot be reversed.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy of the wallet address, bank details and other instructions you give us, for the security of your own wallet, and for any taxes arising from your exchanges. Digital assets sent to an address or network you specified in error cannot be recovered by us.
5. Risk
Digital assets are volatile and are not legal tender in Canada. Their value can fall as well as rise and they are not covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation. Only exchange what you can afford to hold.
6. Liability and disputes
To the extent permitted by law our liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us for the exchange in question. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction.
